※Rumor has it that anyone who reads this will have the same dream. By the way, I read it quite a while ago but haven't had a monkey dream.
Monkey Dream

I was having a dream.
Ever since I was young, I've occasionally become aware while dreaming that I'm actually dreaming. This time was no different.
For some reason, I was alone at a dimly lit, deserted station.
I thought, “This is a pretty gloomy dream.”
Suddenly, an announcement came over the station speakers in a lifeless male voice.
It said, “A train will arrive shortly. If you board that train, you'll have a scary experience~”
It was completely nonsensical. Soon, a train pulled into the station.
It wasn't really a train, more like one of those monkey trains you see at amusement parks. A few pale-faced men and women were sitting in a row.
I thought it was a strange dream, but I decided to board that train anyway, wanting to test just how much fear my own dreams could instill in me.
I figured if it got truly unbearable, I could just wake up.
I could only freely wake myself from dreams when I was consciously aware I was dreaming.

I sat in the third seat from the rear of the train. Lukewarm air flowed around me,
so vivid it made me doubt if I was really dreaming. “Departing now~” the announcement sounded, and the train began to move. My heart pounded with both anxiety and anticipation, wondering what would happen next. The train left the platform and immediately entered a tunnel. A purple-ish light cast an eerie glow inside the tunnel.
I thought to myself. The view from this tunnel is just like the one from the thrill ride I rode at the amusement park when I was a kid. This train is just a monkey train anyway—it's just bringing back images from my past memories, so it's not scary at all.
Then, another announcement came over the speakers. “Next stop: Ikedzukuri~ Ikedzukuri.”
Ikedzukuri? Fish? I was pondering this when suddenly, a shrill scream pierced the air from behind.
Turning around, I saw four dwarves clad in rags swarming around a man seated at the very back of the train.
Looking closer, the man had been sliced open with a blade, truly resembling a fish being prepared for sashimi.
A pungent stench filled the air, and the man screamed at ear-splitting volume without pause.
His internal organs were being pulled out one after another, blood-soaked viscera scattering everywhere.
A pale-faced woman with long hair sat directly behind me, but she remained silent, facing forward as if completely oblivious to the commotion unfolding right behind her. I was genuinely shocked by this turn of events, which surpassed my imagination. I began to wonder if this was really a dream, and fear set in. I decided to watch a little longer before waking up.
When I came to, the man in the back row was gone.
But a dark red, blood-and-flesh mass remained.
The woman behind me still stared expressionlessly at a single point.
“Next up is gouging out~ gouging out,” the announcement sounded.
Then two dwarves appeared and began gouging out the woman's eyes with jagged spoon-like tools.
Her previously expressionless face contorted into a horrifying grimace of pain, and she screamed at the top of her lungs, so loud it felt like my eardrums would burst, right behind me.
Eyeballs were popping out of their sockets. The smell of blood and sweat was unbearable.
Terrified, I trembled, facing forward and crouching down. I thought this was the moment to make my escape.
I couldn't endure this any longer. Moreover, judging by the order, I was next—the one sitting third.
I tried to wake myself from this nightmare, but I wondered what kind of announcement would be made for me. I decided to confirm that before fleeing the scene.

“Next up is ground meat~ ground meat~” the announcement played.
This was the worst. I could easily imagine what would happen, so I focused my nerves and tried to wake up from the dream.
(Wake up, dream, wake up, wake up) Usually, focusing my mind this intensely worked.
Suddenly, I heard the whirring sound of machinery. This time, the little person climbed onto my lap and brought some strange machine-like thing close.
Thinking it was probably a tool to mince me, I became terrified. I closed my eyes tightly and desperately chanted, (Wake up, dream, wake up, wake up, wake up).
The “whirring” sound gradually grew louder. I felt wind pressure on my face. Just as I thought it was over, it suddenly fell silent.
Somehow, I managed to escape the nightmare. My whole body was drenched in sweat, and tears were streaming from my eyes.
I stumbled from my bed to the kitchen, drank a large amount of water, and finally began to calm down.
I told myself it was terrifyingly real, but after all, it was just a dream.
The next day, I told all my friends at school about this dream. But they just found it amusing. After all, it was just a dream. Four years passed. By then, I was a college student and had completely forgotten about this incident, busy working part-time jobs and such.
Then one night, it suddenly began.
“Next is gouging out~ gouging out.” It started from that scene. I immediately remembered, ah, that dream.
Then, just like last time, two little people were gouging out that woman's eyeballs.
Thinking this was bad, I immediately started chanting (Wake up, dream, wake up, wake up, wake up)....
This time, I couldn't wake up easily. (Dream, wake up, wake up, wake up)..................
“Next is minced meat~ minced meat~”
It was getting really bad. “Wheeeen” it was getting closer. (Dream, wake up, wake up, wake up, please wake me up)
Suddenly, it went quiet. Thinking I'd somehow escaped, I tried to open my eyes just then.
“Trying to escape again? Next time you come, it'll be the last time,” that announcement voice rang out clearly.
Opening my eyes, I was indeed fully awake from the dream, back in my own room.
That last announcement I heard was absolutely not a dream. I definitely heard it in the real world.
What on earth did I do?
それから、現在までまだあの夢は見ていませんが次に見た時にはきっと心臓麻痺か何かで死ぬと覚悟しています。
こっちの世界では心臓麻痺でも、あっちの世界は挽肉です。。。。。。
